Came with the family while on vacation. Aside from it being completely freezing cold in here, the food was good, the waiter was great. The atmosphere was a little dark, but clean and well maintained. Fantastic salsa.

For starters, the bathrooms were really clean. That's always a good sign. The chips were OK. Our server Sean was outstanding and so were the entrees. The grilled steak burrito was fantastic. Add cheese to yours. The way they mixed in jalapeños made it really work. My wife had the spinach, chicken and mushroom quesadilla, which was excellent. Raspberry margarita was good as well. Glad we stumbled upon this place.

Awful. Not coming back. Terrible service, canned salsa, bagged chips. *Puke* We came in at 7:30 and sat at the bar. There was no one in the restaurant, and no one at the bar. So we got our own chips. We waited and waited some more. When a bartender finally appeared she asked if we wanted menus. Um, "no we just wanted to sit at the bar with chips and salsa we got ourselves." Horrible service. It was really hard to communicate that we wanted a sweet tea and a water, and instead of telling us they didn't have sweet tea she just asked if we wanted sugar or splenda. Gross, does anybody even use toxic splenda now? And, when our drinks arrived, about 60 seconds later, we were asked if we were ready to order. We hadn't even looked at that menu! This is not how to get regulars. So we left. Never to return. Get your act together, La Senorita.

If you are craving Mexican Food, La Señorita will get you to your next and/or regular fix where your favorite Mexican Restaurant resides. La Señorita's chips and hot sauce is basically a seasoned tomato sauce. Ask for the spicier number which will get you where you need to be on heat level. I had the lunch chile relleno which is a white cheese filled poblano chile, battered, fried then topped with a sauce that was uneventful but did not interfere with the overall flavor. A heavy oily flavor did exist so I picked the chile poblano away from the batter saving a bunch of flavorless calories. Beans were middle of the road and the rice was better than expected. My wife had the ground beef chimichanga and the ground beef was flavored with cinnamon and other spices not usually associated with Tex-Mex. As a Chef, I do recognize the value of these spices and flavorings in Mexico but not usually found in Tex-Mex. In La Senorita's defense, I do not know if they are billing this restaurant as Tex-Mex. Bottom line, my wife was done with the flavor profile two bites in. Being 1400 miles from an area where Mexican / Tex-Mex Food is on every corner, we are tough on Mexican Restaurants outside the demographic area where proper flavors are expected. We are tough only because most places outside above referenced a areas give us no reason to brag or recommend them. I see this place has been located in TC for 30 years+ so I assume there is really nothing else to steer TC's attention elsewhere. I give this place (3) stars as our server was very good. He helped us through our long wait for food at 3 p.m. with two other people in the restaurant. I give it (3) stars because the food will give you some sort of satisfaction for your craving until you can get back to your hometown Mexican joint if you're lucky enough to live in such an area. I give it (3) stars because the drink specials listed are incredible such as a flight of Tequilla for $13 in which one can choose one shot out of each list of blancos, resposados and anejos. For this price, one can choose a Patron shot out of each class which are up to $ 10 per shot at some bars. I believe the drinks are the draw for The Locals.

Great service and yummy Mexican food. I'll definitely be back. Waitress is awesome! Never an empty glass! Blanco Burrito is my favorite!

If you want good service, be sure to sit in restaurant, not cantina. But, if you want to get up and get your own unlimited amount of chips and salsa then I would sit in cantina, I am willing to constantly wave for service and refills. Enchiladas are bland, but other food is great and flavorful.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our service was actually quite good, but all of our food was pretty terrible! I can even like kind of cheap mexican food, but this stuff was just not good in any way! Our marguaritas were pretty good though! But we will never go there again-bad bad food! Gross and not tasty :(

The chicken wings are the best! Wing sauce has just the right amount of spicyness to it. Best in town ! You wont be disappointed!

Very nice, good food , good service... (Matt) had quesidillias and burritos...plenty of food...warm Chips and salsa. Nice warm fire on this cold day....warm atmosphere. Like it better than the one on 31/37 on the west side of Traverse.

Not the worst Mexican food I have had, but pretty close to it.. Way too long to get the food and you knows it's not good to see a crust on the refried beans... On a good note the beer and margaritas were good...

I mean holy hell, La Senorita has managed to serve exactly the same menu, drinks, etc for the past...I don't know...30 years? Without ever really changing much. If it ain't broke, don't fix it? I mean it's not exactly AMAZING, but it is Tex-Mex in huge quantities for fairly cheap. I wouldn't really recommend it to people, but on this particular day it fit the bill. You see, I was charged with entertaining my 5 and 7 year old nieces for about an hour while my car got looked at next door. There isn't much in safe walking distance so La Senorita it was...I figured some good old sugary umbrella drinks would do just the trick. And it did. Paired with their super reasonably priced kids menu (cheese quesadilla + fries for $2.99! Completely colorless, but cheap!) made for a winning "happy hour." Plus they have that bucket with toys for kids, so we were endlessly entertained with a friendship bracelet and a lei, plus the umbrellas in the drinks. I miss the big paper fan things though. Bring 'em back! I'll pay extra. The real extra star here was earned by the waitress who didn't mind at all that the 5 year old just wanted to eat about 4 bowls of the free chips (and she is tiny! god bless her...I think its the endless cartwheels). She just kept bringing them without judgment and was nice to the kids and even got us to go cups for the virgin drinks. Yes. Mine had booze. They aren't my kids, I'm having a drink! Actually, you probably need it more when they ARE your kids. Nevermind, mine was just wat the Senorita ordered...and that server earned herself that fat 30 percent tip. Thanks for being swell! Good place for happy hour, drinks and snacks and a hugely heavy dinner that will make you wish you'd worn elastic pants. This is a mainstay on Garfield and it's never going to change...so love it or leave it, its La Senorita.

Not the best time we ever had at a La Senorita. I like their food, but we seemed to have a waitress having a bad day. While she was cheerful enough, she couldn't get my son's order right. He asked for the mombo combo, and asked that one enchilada get shredded beef instead of ground. So instead, even the chicken enchilada got beef, and the flauta that he asked for chicken, got beef. He went over it a couple times. Then we asked for extra chips 3 times, were told sure, never got them. Took quite a while to get our order, and no one ever checked to see if we needed anything (Other than the chips, which was a lost cause) Despite the hurried & inaccurate service, the food tasted good, at least what we did get.

I have no idea what the other comments on here are about. My family and I went here while on vacation and we are so sad that it is so far way! Best Mexican food we have had in awhile. Their guacamole is amazing with their homemade chips. I got the tamales that were very tasty and my parents got the special. The only disappointment of the experience was that we were too full to finish the food. Huge promotion sizes. Amazing!!

I used to love this place as a kid; they'd bring out a little cake and sing to you on your birthday, so of course at age nine and up I wanted ALL OF THE BIRTHDAYS to happen here. The place has great ambiance and the food's pretty-okay (good taco salads!), but the service is generally "meh" when I go there, now, as a grown-up. Drinks are pricier than they need to be, but they get some points, I guess, for nostalgia.

I eat here all the time, love the food.. The reason I give 2 stars is because when ordering carry out they do not include sour cream or any salsa, as they do when eating in. They charged me extra for these items that you get free eating in. Not cool at all, major disappointment ;-(

I agree with most reviewers, this restaurant is not that great. their food isn't specular and they haven't changed the menu in a very long time. But that being said, I still like this place! Every time throughout my life I'd always get the steak or chicken fajitas, quesadillas, or wet burritos and never been disappointed with the service.. maybe a minor mistake here and there, nothing big. I think only us TC locals will truly appreciate La Senorita, as it's one of the only Mexican restaurants we have. If you are coming from out of state, never been here in your life, and you love authentic mexican food, then this place might disappoint you. On the other hand, if you go in expecting a decent sort-of mexican lunch or dinner, then maybe you might enjoy yourself!

Although their food seems to be pretty decent....their service is absolutely horrible. I have been a customer of La Señorita since they opened and have watched the service decline continually. With that said, if you end up here, Make .sure to try their wings (of course), the green sauce for their chips and the Firecracker appetizer. My all time favorites here

This place was ok - not great but not bad either. It was not very busy when we were there. Food was served hot and was served fpretty quick. I was looking for more combination platters to chose from - they really don't have that type of menu. The salsa was very mild and the food was also - a bit boring. Service was good.

What can I say, long time mexican food connoisseur from California. The salsa is from a can, chips from a bag, crab meat was imitation, spices were too bland and whats with that sweet jelly on the appetizer. All in all, service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was clean. If you could rate the service separately I would give 4 stars.

This location is better than the newer one for whatever reason, the chips are ok the salsa is better than average'the fire cracker app. Was really good and the Garcia chimmy is the reason we came over all it's really good tex mex. for tc

gross. maybe it's because I'm from the West and I actually know what Mexican food should taste like but this place couldn't even offer a decent salsa. never ever again.

Staff is friendly, other than that the last few visits have been disappointing.. I use to eat at there East Lansing location alot back in the mid 80s and always liked it... I guess that's why I keep giving them another chance.. Maybe next time...

I've eaten here a couple of times. I guess you could say its a decent place for Mexican food around these parts. I've never had traditional Mexican food so i have no idea what the comparison is. I just know that i love La Senorita's Faunta's. Yum Yum! I usually don't order anything other than that. It's just an appetizer but it sure will fill you up! I still say give it a shot. I like it a lot better than Red Mesa! That's for damn sure! Oh yeah! I had the chili there once and it was really good!

If you have ever had real Mexican food, you will dislike La Seniorita. This is not rating on this particular location, this is for the whole franchise. The food is probably just as much quality as the stuff you would get at Taco Bell only it tastes much worse. The staff is friendly and it does have fun decorations inside. That's why I'm rating it 2 stars.

Had lunch here last week and the service was not good. Giving the server credit, they were busy and there was only one server left on. That being said, I felt like I was slightly discriminated because I was not a "regular." Food was good as usual, but don't give me slow service because I don't hang out here all day, every day.

It gets one star because I happen to be a fan, I'll admit it, of gooey queso dip. And they've got it loaded with peppers. The rest of the menu can be disregarded as nothing is worth driving down there for. Sorry, but we didn't even want our leftovers. Which, for us, turning down a meal we don't have to cook, must mean it's pretty bad. Friendly waitstaff. Ample parking. Short wait. For those who want to try it, anyway.

A good variety of Americanized Mexican dishes in a Southwestern style atmosphere. Their wet burritos are darned good, as is their spanish rice. There is often a 15 to 20 minute wait on weekend evenings, but it's worth it. Prices are moderate with most dishes between $10 and $15.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
